5 Great (Food) Things to Do in January
Great Prix-Fixe Menus! Cooking and Cocktail Classes! Haggis! A Cheese and Chocolate Party! Yes—January can be merry, too!
I used to love the Des Moines Register’s Datebook—and not just because I wrote a dining column for it every week for 15 years. I simply appreciated the well-curated and highly informative lists of things to do, all in one spot. I appreciated the way the writers and editors covering very specific beats would always make sure you had the info you needed to make good decisions on what to do.
Yes—these days, you can go to all kinds of crowdsourced sites to find events. But somehow, my eyes glaze over, and I never get all my questions answered.
So, in the spirit of the wonderful (but sadly erstwhile) Datebook, I’m offering a highly curated list of food-related things to do this month, enhanced by some good old-fashioned reporting.
To help spread the word about these great events (as well as my Substack newsletter) please share this list with your friends!
And remember. It takes time to chase down the kind of details I offer here. A huge thanks to my paid subscribers for supporting this work.
