With two James Beard-nominated venues, a beautiful downtown, and captivating waterfalls—there's plenty to enjoy here. Is it worth a stand-alone trip? You know I'll tell you.
We are headed to the Black Hills, and thanks to your post we are staying in downtown Sioux Falls, on the River. Just checked in. Appreciate your research for us so we can have a better trip! Will report back on what we enjoyed.
I grew up in Sioux City and at that time (50-60 years ago) Sioux Falls was definitely not on the radar for an enjoyable stop! We intend to visit the Black Hills next summer, and we'll give Sioux Falls a try! On a similar note, a recent long weekend in LaCrosse WI allowed us to eat at Le Chateau, the finest French food I've experienced in the Midwest - although based on an admittedly small sample!

Let us know what you found! Enjoy the hills. I love that area so much.
Meeting a friend there this weekend — your timing was perfect!
Let me know what you think! And what you find. I think you'll have a great time. Hope the weather is cooler up there. Cheers!
I’m definitely going to book a weekend at some point based on this post alone! I’m having small town envy.
It's a nice spot--and I think you live closer than I do, so it may well be worth a drive for you, especially in autumn. Cheers, Sarah!
Thanks for another fun trip, Wini. I have never been to Sioux Falls, but it sounds like a great city to visit.

Thanks for the lead about La Crosse! Great restaurants are popping up in off the beaten places all over.
I think Sioux Falls really upped its game in the current century!
I was in Sioux Falls last month and had lunch at Bibisol. It was delightful and delicious.
As I remember I was born there. I can vouch for it.
I didn't know! Much has changed since then, I'm sure. It's a lovely city!
