I’m skeptical when I hear someone describe a place as a “family business.” After all, Walmart is a family business, but we don’t see the owners handling all of the customer service with their kids sitting nearby. Tullpa Novo Andina Fusion Restaurant, however, fits the descriptor.
I didn’t fully catch on to this right away. Our server, who I later learned is co-owner Maira “Gloria” Henriquez, seemed to be running everything except the cooking. She greeted us, seated us, and asked if it was our first time at Tullpa. When we confirmed it was, she gave us an overview of the menu. She described Tullpa’s offerings as “80 percent Peruvian food” with some dishes from Ecuador and Colombia. “…
