Greetings! A few noteworthy bits of info for local food lovers, starting with a Latino take on Restaurant Week.

Latino Restaurant Week Starts Next Week

Chef-restaurateur Arturo Mora. His restaurants, Roots 95 and Flame Cantina, are participating.

The first annual Latino Restaurant Week will be held from September 13 through 21. It is organized by the newly formed Iowa Latino Hospitality Council, an initiative of the Iowa Restaurant Association.

During these 11 days, the two dozen participating restaurants will offer prix-fixe menus with two-course lunches at two for $25 and three-course dinners at two for $50.

It’s a great opportunity to explore cuisines that are less commonly found in our area, beyond the more well-known and much-loved combo plates.

“Latino Food is more than Mexican,” chef-restaurateur Arturo Mora reminds us. Indeed, in addition to a wealth of Mexican restaurants on the list, you can enjoy tastes of El Salvador, Peru, Ecuador, and more—Mexican-born Mora himself describes…
