Icon#1: The Younkers Tea Room. Pictured …. about 45 years before I worked there.

I recently learned that Eileen Gannon is launching a new line of her wonderful chocolate sauces. They inspired me to make a dessert inspired by my days working at the Younkers Tea Room … but first, a little bit about Eileen:

About Eileen Gannon

Eileen Gannon might not have the name recognition of other local foodies like George Formaro or Lynn Pritchard, but if you’ve ever competed in a State Fair food competition, you likely know who she is. She’s walked away with hundreds of ribbons (mostly blue).

About two years ago, she went pro, launching her line of Sunday Night Foods, gourmet premium chocolate dessert sauces that she took three years to perfect. Since then, she has earned coveted Sofi Awards, which are top honors from the Specialty Food Association (nearly 2,000 products were in the competition). She’s won two years in a row.
